Luxury vinyl flooring is practical and beautiful
Luxury vinyl is a versatile and practical material that resists stains and scratches and everyday wear and tear.
Luxury vinyl flooring, or LVF, offers ease of maintenance and a hardwood or tile look. Tile that has a hardwood look is trendy, and wood-look planks are popular too. Stone and ceramic look vinyl flooring are also good alternatives to the natural materials they mimic. G & J Tile & Floor Covering is a locally owned flooring retailer in Foley, Alabama, that offers a wide assortment of luxury vinyl brands that can be installed in any room of the house.
Multiple layer flooring construction
Planks and tiles have four layers: backing, core, image, and wear. Images of wood species, stones, and ceramic are created with high tech digital imaging technology. The transparent wear layer protects the image, so the thickness is important. Look for a brand that has a wear layer that is at least 20 mils thick. The highest quality brands have an additional protective coating on top of the wear layer. Plank thickness ranges from 2 mm to 8 mm or more.
Waterproof flooring with a rigid core
Rigid core construction offers dimensional stability. WPC and SPC are types of rigid cores. The main component in the wood-plastic composite core is wood flour or another wood byproduct while a stone plastic composite core contains limestone. Any LVF that has a rigid core is waterproof. This type of LVF will not warp or buckle even if it is wet for a long period. Further, since there is no change in structural integrity, the floor's lifespan does not change.
